Keyed deadbolt locks provide the security, and the use of stainless steel would require power tools for a forced entry. An on-site stairs fabrication, with my welding shop close by, and all my portable welding gear in full swing. The California Coastal Commission regulations say an owner can't wholly replace a stairway to the beach, instead the existing one must be repaired or abandoned altogether. Spiral stairs are great for accessing different levels where space for a conventional stair system is dear. Each stair is carefully designed for accessibility, top and bottom, and durability. On the beach, where corrosion is such an issue, we opted for galvanized steel, which was then primed and painted.
This restaurant wanted to disguise the industrial look of its kitchen exhaust system. How about an old-fashioned water tank? We fabricated the frame with aluminum and stainless steel, and wrapped it in corrugated galvanized steel. A local abalone farm has an old troop lander rigged to cut kelp for the voracious appetites of their little critters. The boat need a new pilot house, with a minimum of down time. So we made templates of the old one, fabbed it up and super-painted it, then in one day, cut off the old house and welded the new one on.
