Richardson Smith Architects provides a full range of architectural design services. We understand that each of our clients and projects are unique and the architectural design services we provide need to be tailored to the individual circumstances of the project. Traditionally, architects provide services in five categories: 1) Preliminary Design; 2) Design Development; 3) Construction Documents; 4) Bidding and Permits; and 5) Construction Administration. Architectural Services can also include "pre-design" services such as helping our clients in developing their building program and design objectives; determining sustainable design objectives and goals; site planning analysis; and assisting with the regulatory and zoning approval process.
Richardson Smith Architects has developed master plans and site design solutions for all types of projects. This often involves planning for how a project may be phased or how a project may be developed to meet critical and sometimes restrictive zoning regulations such as building mass and height limitations or onsite parking requirements. Increasingly, environmental issues such as wetland designations or greenspace and tree protection affect what is possible for the development of a site. Our office is knowledgeable and experienced with all local zoning, site planning and environmental ordinances to ensure that a project meets the required design criteria.
Richardson Smith Architects have provided interior design services for a wide range of interior spaces and project types. We have experience handling projects ranging from small residential remodeling to the redesign and re-purposing of large commercial, business and institutional interior spaces. We have also provided services for the interior renovation of historic buildings as well as urban and industrial warehouses. Large interior projects often require the same scope of services as those outlined in the Architectural Design Services section of this web site.
