Founding Principals, Kevin Godshall and Damon Royal Kane (1958-2013), started our firm in 2004 with the belief that offering creative, technically rigorous, sustainable, and cost-effective design solutions would build professional relationships with clients. With the addition of P. Michael O'Rourke as a Principal in 2011, GKO Architects continues to operate with this same philosophy. In order to produce meaningful and substantive design solutions for our clients, the Principals believe that collaboration with staff, engineers, and other design professionals, builders, and most importantly, our clients, is the best way to achieve successful results.
The keystone of the GKO Architects design philosophy is that architecture should not be over-designed. Truly outstanding design should be simple, appropriate, and cost-efficient. At the same time, it should be attractive, inspiring, and sustainable. The GKO Architects philosophy is intertwined with the programmatic and budgetary needs of our clients. In order to maintain this connection, we collaborate closely with our clients and other team partners within an integrated design process. The integration of buildings into the context of their respective communities is another important consideration in our design philosophy.
