A new water feature became the focus of the outdoor terrace with its splashing waterfall, koi fish and lush plantings. A new spa and deck is designed to fit into a steep slope with large stone slab steps that lead to the swimming pool. Grasses, roses and perennials attract birds and bees and offer seasonal color and interest.
A substantial addition to the house, along with a new garage, offered the opportunity to transform the outdoor spaces on this property. An out-dated wood deck was removed and replaced with elegant stone terraces and steps that lead down to a re-furbished inviting pool surrounded by low maintenance grasses and perennials. A new shade structure offers an inviting outdoor seating area that focuses on an outdoor fireplace for three season enjoyment.
A flagstone and antique brick bordered patio features an antique iron gate and is designed with New Orleans in mind. Crape Myrtle trees, ferns and perennials create a shady retreat. The simple water feature offers delightful water noise. Beyond the patio, perennial gardens, cutting gardens, antique roses and vegetable gardens are separated by brick paths and picket fences.
The St. Joseph Parish, 40 acre campus includes the Sanctuary, School, Gymnasium, Rectory, Convent and a new Administration/Family Life Center. AFWCo is working with the church to provide an overall landscape master plan to unify the campus, detailed landscape plans for the new building and design for signage, lighting and re-design for existing landscaping. Creative, low maintenance, sustainable solutions are the focus for the landscape management of the property.
This heavily wooded, sloping site provides multiple opportunities for outdoor living under the trees. Winding paths, with destinations unknown, curve through the native understory plantings. A new, enlarged Ipe deck, a lower stone patio with hot tub and an antique bench offer multiple seating areas throughout the property. The trees provide the perfect canopy for a variety of shade tolerant shrubs and perennial groundcovers creating year-round color and seasonal interest.
