Quartz counters are engineered by grinding small particles and mixing them with polyester resin to hold them together and increase durability. For a unique look or more vibrant colors, small particles of glass, reflective metallic flakes or pigments can be added. The result is an attractive, extremely strong material that allows homeowners more opportunity for customization. Quartz countertops are available in polished and textured finishes. While quartz doesn't offer the uniqueness of natural stone, it does provide plenty of options to fit whatever design and color scheme you envision.

Marble countertops are an extremely attractive option for those seeking a truly unique design. Properly cared for, marble countertops will provide long-lasting enjoyment for as long as you're in your home. While not overly burdensome to most homeowners, marble does require higher-than-average care. Liquid spills, acidic foods, and liquids such as citrus fruit, juice, wine and tomato products must all be cleaned up quickly and diligently. Marble, like granite, offers excellent resistance to heat, however fine scratches from cutting and regular use are to be expected.

Quartzite is 100% natural stone, made almost entirely of quartz minerals. It is usually white or the light color of quartz sand, sometimes with hues of green, blue or iron-red from additional minerals in the groundwater. Quartzite, like granite, is resistant to heat and scratches and it comes in a range of porosities. Some have been highly metamorphosed, which means the minerals are bonded tightly together. While others are more porous because they've been exposed to less intense pressure, so they will benefit from sealing from our expert staff.

Great Lakes Granite Works has humble beginnings dating back to 1994. We operated out of a one-room shop on Scribner Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Back then, our three-person team had little idea of the future that was in store for the company, but they were determined to put their hearts and souls into the business. In those early days, what we lacked in size and reputation, we made up for with work ethic, personal service and a love for crafting with stone. It wasn't long before our craftsmanship and honest values earned us a reputable name among builders and homeowners in Grand Rapids and West Michigan.

What's new?

When stacking 2 pcs of stone together, any great fabricator is going to be concerned with those lamination lines. Do I dare say "what lines" on this 2cm laminated to 4cm Eromosa?

A creative way to keep an open floor plan in your bathroom! To separate the tub deck from the shower, we added a mitered wall cap with shower seat on the opposite side. Once installed the shower glass wall will pull the look together!
