City Architecture

City Architecture is a 30-year Cleveland firm providing integrated services in architecture, planning, and urban design that is focused on creating places that are vibrant, responsive to their context, and reflective of their community. We work as a cohesive and motivated group on a wide variety of projects, and we have a track record of working with public and private clients. Our ability to understand multiple perspectives and consider varying aspects of projects has earned us a reputation of "neighborhood builders".

Alex believes great design enhances every project. His wide array of efforts and experience has gained him a holistic understanding of design, project implementation, detailing and communication with consultants, city officials, and most importantly, the client. His experience and passion for design led him to urban planning where he can practice his design beliefs at a neighborhood scale. As a project manager, urban designer and architect he has been involved with the creation of city master plans, mixed-use developments, redevelopment plans, large infrastructure projects and streetscape designs.

Restoration of the Tudor Arms Hotel preserves and repositions an important structure in Cleveland's history. This highly visible landmark punctuates one of the City's main corridors and helps define its University Circle District. Overcoming years of neglect, work included extensive masonry repairs, renovating beautiful leaded glass windows and the restoration of world class interior woodwork. The adaptive re-use as a hotel is operated as a Double Tree by Hilton and offers a boutique hotel experience for visitors.

City Architecture created a two-block redevelopment plan focused towards providing quality, mixed-income housing while contributing to the revitalization of the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. This urban mixed-use development involves historic renovation and new construction, residential and commercial uses, condominiums and apartments as well as the integration of a new parking garage. The infrastructure and public spaces throughout the site have been designed to promote a cohesive, connected and vibrant neighborhood.
