A retired gallery owner had a fine art collection that didn't quite fit the traditional cottage they purchased in La Jolla. We introduced modern custom doors amidst the board-and-batt exterior while redefining and brightening the interior for the art to take center stage. Casa Max is a modern composition of simple and cost-effective materials. Two plaster forms connected by a translucent atrium brings in light during the day and becomes a lantern at night. It is a play of the Mexican and Japanese heritages within the home.

Sneak peak of our Coronado house photo shoot. Sure, it’s before the camera was in focus, but it does leave you wanting more, doesn’t it?
