Since 1986,* we have been creating custom architectural design for homeowners and small businesses throughout the East Bay, in the communities of Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, Kensington, Orinda, Lafayette, Moraga, as well as outlying areas stretching as far afield as Tahoe. During the two decades that our core design team-Grier Graff, Rick Haier, Curt Holzinger, and Jeannine Chappell-has worked together, we have become known for our expertise in traditional styles that incorporate contemporary design and ease-of-use.
We are a five-person firm with a core design team that has worked together for over two decades. Before establishing Graff Architects the core team worked together with Christopherson and Graff Architects. Grier Graff, Jeannine Chappell, Curt Holzinger and Chris Coffee make up the architectural staff. Their consistency in producing one successful project after another is based on both shared and complementary qualities and dedication to good design. When discussing their work, common words are repeated--fun, problem solving, puzzle--and if you ask what's most challenging, they'll turn it around and call it rewarding.
Over the years, Graff Architects has developed an expertise to provide contemporary design while staying within the bounds of the many traditional styles that are so popular and enriching to this area. Our current portfolio includes all architectural styles found in the Bay Area. No project is too small for Graff Architects, and we understand finite budgets. As such, we offer various levels of limited services, as well as being called in as an adjunct to an interior designer or other building professionals.
