Since its founding in 1979, LMN has dedicated its practice to the health and vitality of communities of all scales. Our staff covers a broad multi-disciplinary spectrum including Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design, and Design Research, with project teams commonly comprising elements of each. Known for generous, enriching civic design in the public and private realms, LMN's projects are always different, but share a common approach to how they work for people - whether in a campus, city, neighborhood, or workplace, we all have a need to feel connected.

Each assignment is a collaborative exploration with our clients and colleagues, seeking progressive discoveries and innovative design solutions. We find that our projects increase in richness and meaning when the design process actively engages a broad diversity of participants. We explore these discoveries within the disciplines of Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Design, and Planning. We discover and develop design technology innovations with our internal research and development group, Tech Studio.

Our process includes creative exploration of client goals, sound technical solutions, and team collaboration. We develop projects with progressive design ideas to enrich the user experience with human-scaled comfort and high functionality. LMN's interior design group provides full service design for architectural projects as well as for independent interiors projects. We offer programing and space planning, lighting coordination, furniture design and planning, and material selection. We realize our client's goals and objectives in interior environments that enrich the user experience and overall culture of the organization.

LMN professionals frequently speak at local, regional, national and international conferences, workshop, panels, and symposia on a wide range of project types and design methodologies. We are known for progressive design thinking that enriches communities, with nationally recognized expertise in design technology, sustainability, project delivery, and community process. Our speaking engagements include are not solely dominated by our firm's partners — professionals at all levels within LMN take the opportunity to share their knowledge, tell their stories of discovery, and flex their public speaking talents.

LMN is deeply honored to receive the 2016 Architecture Firm Award, the highest honor the American Institute of Architects bestows upon an architecture firm. This award transcends individual project accomplishments, recognizing one architectural practice every year for sustained design excellence and extraordinary contributions to the profession and broader society. We are indebted to our many clients, user groups, collaborators, consultants and employees throughout the years for their critical contributions in the achievement of this significant milestone.

Collaboration and a multi-disciplinary team-based approach is a core value for LMN. We believe collaboration among creative people leads to meaningful discovery and achievement, beyond what is possible by individual endeavors, and we seek to effectively draw upon a rich diversity of participants for all of our projects. We have teamed with nearly 100 architect collaborators throughout North America and the world, as well as talented construction firms on a variety of successful design-build projects.

LMN's work has received particular acclaim for engaging the public realm in unique expressions of place, as demonstrated by more than 200 local, regional, national and international design awards, including seven National AIA awards-generally regarded as the highest level of design achievement. In recent years, LMN projects received awards in each of three categories of the National AIA Honor Awards program: architecture; interior architecture; and urban design. This breadth of recognition reflects our all-encompassing, integrated approach to architectural design and civic place-making.
