Evergreen Turf was established in April of 1999 by Jeff Nettleton and Jimmy Fox as a small, friendly, locally owned and operated Arizona sod farm. The idea back then was to provide Arizona homeowners and landscape contractors with an elite, golf-quality product. Since then, Evergreen Turf has become the major sod provider not just for homeowners, and landscapers, but for Arizona's demanding golf courses and sports facilities. With more new golf courses and renovation projects than we can count, and thousands of commercial parks and home lawns installed, Evergreen Turf has become the major, locally-owned sod farm in Arizona.
Evergreen Turf produces only the finest sod grass varieties. We harvest your sod from our local Arizona farms when you order, ensuring that the freshest and best quality grass arrives at your home. A healthy lawn begins with healthy soil. Your lawn requires a good source of nutrients to maintain its color and vigorous growth. Be careful not to over-fertilize, as this can cause excess growth, excess thatch build-up, and excess work for YOU! Too little fertilizer can leave your lawn thin, yellow, and slow to recover from wear. To keep it looking its best, your lawn requires a balanced diet, with the right amount of food on a consistent schedule-just like people do. Nutrition for New Sod Grass Installations in Arizona- To get started right, your lawn will need a little bit of nitrogen, some phosphorus, and some potassium for good root growth.
Your first defense against weeds in your sod grass is a healthy lawn. Fertility, irrigation, and consistent mowing are necessary for a thick dense lawn. Thick dense sod will keep weeds from ever getting started in your lawn. Any time your lawn becomes thin or stressed, the sod will begin to lose density and allow room for competition. Weed seeds are opportunistic, sitting idly by until given a little room and a little sunlight to allow them to start growing. There are two main categories of weeds-broadleaf weeds (dicots) and grassy weeds (monocots).

We are fortunate in the desert southwest of Arizona to have very few sod grass related insect problems. The unfortunate thing is that most of the damage is done below ground, so you never see the insects until you see the damage they have left behind. The insects that are the most problematic are grubs, ants, and pearl scale. Insects that are present but only occasionally causes problems are chinch bugs, sod webworms, and cut worms. While a healthy turf is your best defense against insect damage to your sod in Arizona, a healthy lush lawn can also attract insects in our desert climate.
