A mold inspection is a thorough visual observation of the home, particularly any Basement, Crawlspace and Attic areas to identify signs of mold growth, water damage, ventilation and humidity issues. As part of our standard mold inspection, we offer to inspect the interior components of the HVAC and AC unit, including all accessible ductwork. Believe it or not, mold growth inside AC units is very common and can be a vital part of diagnosing. HNST Mold Inspections was founded on the principles of honesty and integrity, to provide independent and non-biased opinions and solutions to its clients.

HNST Mold Inspections was founded on the principles of honesty and integrity, to provide independent and non-biased opinions and solutions to its clients. With many years of experience in mold remediation, water damage restoration, and mold inspection business, you can be assured that H.N.S.T Mold Inspections has the knowledge and experience to assist you in making informed decisions about your specific situation. H.N.S.T Mold Inspections will work for you and only you the client. My background stems from hands-on experience in Mold Remediation, Water Damage Restoration, Air Duct Cleaning, and Indoor Air Quality Assessment.

Mold growth is a type of Fungi that produce long tube-like structures called hyphae. When these hyphae grow, they develop into visible masses known as"colonies." Depending on the type of mold and growth conditions, these colonies can have a wide variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and colors. You may have heard about Toxic Black Mold in the media or from friends, or a contractor. The word toxic, in the description, has caused mold growth to be as something feared. Stachybotrys Chartarum is the species of mold growth that describes Toxic Black Mold.

Per the New York State Mold Law, any mold greater than 10 Square Feet requires an independent assessment by a New York State Licensed Assessor. Mold remediation companies cannot provide an estimate for mold remediation with a remediation plan/protocol from a third-party company. This is one extra step in the process, but it is to ensure that the consumer is protected from unscrupulous contractors and illegitimate practices. A mold inspection is a thorough visual observation of the home, particularly any Basement, Crawlspace, Attic & central ventilation system, to identify signs of mold growth, water damage, ventilation, and humidity issues.

Mold testing is used to evaluate indoor microbial levels in the air and to document suspect mold growth on surfaces. Mold testing should not and cannot be used as the only tool to identify or to rule out and indoor contamination. Air quality mold samples are collected to identify the airborne levels of mold present within the indoor environment beyond what we can see. Surface mold samples are collected using a sterile swab or tape lift method to identify the types of mold growing on the building materials.

HNST Mold Inspections can test your residential or commercial property for lead in the State of New York. Lead was used in many products before we knew its neurotoxic effects. Unfortunately, even now that we know how harmful it can be, it is still used in consumer products both legally and illegally. There are scenarios where lead is used in a safe manner, but any human contact with it can be potentially harmful. Lead can be found in many places in and out of the home and workplace. Older paint commonly contained lead as an additive.

HNST Mold Inspections also provides Asbestos testing in The State of New York. There are situations where Asbestos poses threats, but it can be important to know whether or not Asbestos is present in a suspected area. Most demolition or home remodeling projects require asbestos testing, and this drove us to offer this testing service to our clients. Asbestos is a mineral found in nature. Part of the reason it is so harmful to humans is the small size of the fibers. An individual fiber of Asbestos can only be seen by an electron microscope.

Immediately following water damage within a property the water should be extracted, the water damaged building materials removed and the structures dried within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth. If going through insurance, our company can assess the extent of the damage to document the situation and provide a detailed report of your loss. We highly recommend contracting a restoration company, ASAP, to perform the dry out and material removal. Following the cleanup it is recommended to have the areas inspected with the collection of air quality mold samples to determine if the cleanup was successful.

What's new?

Mold in the ductwork, on the registers and inside the air handlers on two separate inspections today. Mold in forced air ventilation systems is more common than you might think! Make sure you’re hiring the right inspector!!
