Here's a test: before you purchase a policy from an insurance company that you've never heard of before, call their 800 number as though you need to speak with some about an existing claim. If all you get is voicemail, unanswered ringing or hold for longer than 5 minutes, keep your money and keep looking for evidence of better customer service from another carrier. I just waited for 22 minutes for, "the next available agent."
