Having years of experience in the construction industry, we were aware of the need for qualified minority general contractors and subcontractors and had experienced first-hand the difficulty of finding that. Judy and Don recognized that with their combined experience and qualifications they could fill that void — they could be the hard-to-find contractor who not only had the paper credentials but could do the work! Heartland was initially certified in 2004 and re-certified in 2007 by the City of Charlotte as a Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise.

Through years of experience, Don and Judy knew precisely the kind of employees they wanted for their business and have surrounded ourselves with seasoned professionals with proven track records. Heartland is a full service MWBE certified commercial general contractor with licenses in NC, SC, Virginia and Tennessee. Our portfolio includes projects from a few hundred dollars to over $3 million. We do not gauge our success by the size projects we perform; rather, we consider ourselves successful when we earn our customers' trust and establish lasting relationships built on that trust.
