Kater Floors was started in 1962 with the idea that hardwood flooring would one day surpass carpeting as the choice of floor coverings in homes around Chicagoland. At that time, the business specialized in hardwood floor installation and refinishing only. Over the years, we have expanded into many other floor coverings including stone, tile, marble, slate, and pre-finished flooring. The business was originally located in Wilmette, IL, later moving to to Glenview, IL as the central location to serve those in the existing community.
