Refinishing the hardwood floors in your home entails the same processes regardless of if your floor is newly installed raw wood or if you have a preexisting finished floor. Again, all household items need to be removed from the wood floor surface prior to starting. The floor is sanded flat if its new, if the floor is existing the finish is removed down to the bare wood. Consecutive sanding of the entire floor refines the floor by taking out scratches from previous grits. The end result is a smooth and even raw floor ready to be newly stained or finished.
