2011 is shaping up to be a great and historic year for solar. While the government is grappling over budgetary concerns, the solar industry grew by over 35% last year, creating thousands of jobs and getting us off of foreign forms of energy. As a nation, we need to get behind energy independence... and like most major changes that happen in the U.S., it has to start with US. One roof at at time....
I guess talk about energy independence and getting off of foreign oil/ gas is just lip service. Missouri's JCAR, a beurocratic agency designed to re-write bills and interpret them as they wish, just made the unilateral decision to remove geographical sourcing from the law that two thirds of voters supported.
The 1603 Treasury Grant (uncapped cash grant for solar power) is once again on the chopping block. While it is unlikely that it will get defunded, it reminds us that we must act quickly, lest our fickle government make another bad decision and remove many people's ability to gain energy independence.
As gasoline and natural gas prices are poised to explode, people that have been waiting for a "better time" to own their own energy are wishing they would have done it many years ago. The average increase nationally is around 15%, while some in Missouri have seen increases of over 40%. Hmmm. Visit www.powersource solar.com.
