Since 2000, HopeBUILDERS has been helping people in the Kansas City Metro area live in Safety, Comfort, and Dignity. HopeBUILDERS exists to ensure that those in need, those in our own back yards, are not forgotten. HopeBUILDERS Home Repair is a 501c3 nonprofit that exists to help financially challenged elderly, veterans and people with disabilities in the Kansas City Metro area live in safety, comfort and dignity. We do this by providing accessibility solutions (ramps, door widenings, and bathroom modifications) and other critical home repairs.
Each ramp is designed to t a particular need, client, and property lot. Some have been high and long; some have been short. Usually, they go from the front door down to a driveway, street, or walkway; but occasionally, they go uphill. A HopeBUILDERS ramp normally weighs more than your car, and is probably less likely to blow away, so don't let our use of the word "temporary" scare you. What makes our ramps better and stronger than others? Each module is built from pressure-treated lumber, resisting rotting and moisture.
Earlier this year, our lead volunteer John spoke to the St. James Academy's engineering explorations class about accessibility.
