From our humble beginnings in 1937, our philosophy has always been to provide each Customer with a superior experience in door, gate, and dock equipment repair. Our founder, Frank E. Everett, would tell his wife every morning, "I am going to make my Customers happy today." This was a new concept in the Depression era of 1937; after three generations this is still our guiding philosophy. From the earliest designs of doors and gates for open-air markets and garages to today's full spectrum of modern doors and security products, Vortex has been a pioneer and leader in the market.

When World War II came in 1941, LASSCO played its part, building blast doors for bomb shelters and hangar doors for Air Force bases. We also made parts for airplane gas tanks and Army tank treads. Although we were hampered by the severe rationing of the time, we still received several commendations and citations for quality and speed of delivery. After the war, the economy blossomed with new construction. LASSCO fabricated and installed thousands of gates and folding steel doors. In 1972, LASSCO reorganized into the Los Angeles Door Repair Corporation and concentrated on repairing warehouse doors.

Vortex Doors prides ourselves in having fast, friendly service, with experienced technicians that have been taught at our proprietary state-of-the-art training center. We also believe in sharing our knowledge with our customers so they are more educated about making the right decisions when it is time to get your door maintained or repaired. In December 2008, Vortex completed our new State-of-the-Art Training Center. This was developed to enhance your career at Vortex, gain mechanical knowledge and receive experience with all types of doors and door products including dock levelers. This training course also covers specialized techniques such as welding, torch use, loading and ladder safety. We also aggressively cover how to properly meet and greet Customers to provide them with excellent Customer Service the Vortex way. This Center was designed to give all of our Technicians hands on training in a well organized, intimate atmosphere.

Friendly customer service, fast response time, and extensively trained technicians are just some of the reasons that Vortex Doors have been in business for over 79 years. Vortex Doors' expansion to the South Houston market is a perfect fit because the qualities of the city align with the company's belief of being hard-working and hospitable. While already serving Texas business owners in Carrollton, North Houston, and Fort Worth, the addition of this location expands Vortex Doors' reach to four self-performing locations within the Lone Star state.
