Remarkably, timber piled homes withstood the wind caused bending stress better than reinforced concrete. The wind leveled forests and snapped these piers. We have begun repair projects here, with a greater respect for what nature can deliver. I suppose this is most closely related to the 1938 “ Long Island express”
