The American Institute of Architects was created in 1857 by a group of architects in New York City. The goal of the first members was to have a place where members could meet for lectures, conventions and meetings. The original 13 have grown to nearly 300 local chapters representing 95,000 licensed architects and associated professionals. AIA members adhere to a Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that assures clients, the public and colleagues of their dedication to high standards in professional practice.

Mission Statement: The ARE Committee is committed to helping all AIA Miami Associate members become licensed architects. By providing different opportunities, the committee hopes to prepare AXP candidates in all aspects of the exams; not only various topics related to architecture but time and stress management. Our mission is to learn from our community. The construction and construction administration of a building is critical to all Architects and Designers in understanding its systems, and modes of development.

The annual AIA Miami Design Awards intend to encourage excellence in architecture, elevate public consciousness of good design, and recognize those architects whose work enriches our environment. These awards recognize outstanding architectural projects, both built and unbuilt, that exemplify excellence in design while exploring nature and science of the profession.
