Al Falzone started TPS Landscaping in 1995 as complimentary business to The Potting Shed (his retail and commercial nursery). As the landscape design and construction side of the business grew, Al decided to follow his passion and focus 100% of his time helping his clients transform their outdoor living areas into the favorite room on their property. Although TPS Landscaping has grown considerably over the past 25 years, one thing has never changed: our promise to maintain the highest standards of landscape design and construction by integrating our knowledge in horticulture, creative design, and industry leading landscape installation and maintenance techniques.

Patios are a fantastic addition to any home and can be used all year, whether you're enjoying a warm summer night or a winter evening huddled around the firepit. Your patio serves as an extension of your indoor living space and should transition naturally to your outdoor landscaping. Patios made from either natural stone or pavers are equally as a elegant-it's really a matter of taste and the overall aesthetic of your home. From the pros and cons of each patio material to the most popular styles of today, our landscape design experts can assist you in designing the kind of patio that best suits your outdoor living space.

Pavers are great to consider for a multitude of purposes. They're typically used for outdoor paths and can add an upscale feeling to something as simple as a section of driveway. Pavers can also be used for walkways and patios to accent some of our more natural stone walls. Because they are shaped more strategically, the possibilities with pavers are endless. We will help you determine the best design.

Great commercial landscape design must take into account multiple factors including zoning and buffering requirements, the functionality of areas such as parking lots, signage, walkways, lighting and site-lines. Of course the choices of plantings are also critical to make sure that a commercial landscape not only looks good once we are finished, but is properly designed to allow for the best combination of beauty and funcationality.

The most efficient and cost-saving way to ensure the beauty of your landscaping and the lushness of your lawn is an irrigation system. When TPS Landscaping installs your new irrigation system, we'll program your sprinklers to use the right amount of water in the right location-no more, no less. Not only is that friendly to the environment and your wallet, it also saves you time. Once your irrigation system is installed, we offer a year-round maintenance program to optimize your system's performance and prolong its lifespan.

No landscape design is complete without furniture! To make the most of your outdoor space, you'll need to arrange furniture in a way that will complement it and function the way you need it to. Irrigating your lawn during spring in the mountains of Western North Carolina can be daunting. In the course of just a few hours, our spring weather can go from hot to chilly, windy to calm, a torrential downpour to bright and sunny. With so much variation in spring weather conditions, it can be difficult to determine just when and how much you should water your lawn.

Does your lawn have brown patches? It is spongy, and does it have thick thatch? If so, it needs a good aeration and overseeding! Throughout the year, everyday activities like mowing, kids playing on it, and simply walking across it will cause your lawn to become compacted, which prevents necessary oxygen, moisture, and nutrients from getting to its roots. Even soil that has been compacted inch can negatively impact your lawn's health. Here's what you need to know to aerate and overseed your lawn, so it can get back to feeling and looking its best.

Is there a good reason to mulch in January, when plants are dormant? YES, it's not only a good idea, but you should! Mulching in January can protect your plants from freezing temperatures and dry winds, which can destroy their roots. Read on to find out why mulching in January can help you have hearty, beautiful beds in spring. You've raked the last of the leaves from your lawn. Now you can kick back until spring before you have to start taking care of your turf again, right? Not so fast. Winter-related events like snow pileup, de-icing salt, and fallen limbs can damage your turf, causing compaction, brown and bare spots, and more.

This is how we marry eye appeal with functional landscape design. After all, it's one thing to be comfortable while you are winding down by the fire, or reading a book while being serenaded by the birds, but its entirely another to enjoy the beauty of great stone and rock work while taking in the current season's color around your property. We always try to work seasonal color into our landscape designs. So whether you are enjoying your patio in the spring, summer, fall or winter, there are always interesting plants and features showing off.

I called TPS on a Wednesday asking if they could get to my 1 acre yard before it rained Friday (my mower is in the shop.). The guy who answered the phone was very nice and said he would drive by my house and give me a quote. On that evening at 5pm TPS showed up and took care of my lawn. It is the nicest I have ever seen my lawn look! They mowed, used weed eaters, and blew the spent grass in under 2 hours. The guys who mowed were pleasant as well. If i did not have a mower and all I would use this company all the time! Great company!
