Beginning his career in construction at age 17, owner Eli Caplanis learned cement, block, and footing work as he labored for Superior Construction, a local company that has been in business for over 50 years. Moving to Shoreline Companies, a plumbing outfit, he worked as an apprentice on the Lifetime Fitness account to build out locations in Troy and Novi. Over the next year and a half Eli learned water, gas, and drain work, as well as equipment use of skid loaders and excavators.

We begin with a comprehensive one-on-one in-home consultation to evaluate our clients' specific needs for their outdoor living space, focusing on functional entertainment areas and optimal pool placement within the design to optimize sunlight and privacy. Tango has the unique ability to handle any size and style (in-ground vinyl liner, solid fiberglass, gunite) project from start to finish. Elements of design can change an existing landscape or new home by pulling the eye to a point of interest. Water is the most widely used element, and can be incorporated in a number of ways. A formal water feature (whether manmade or natural) can be used in a courtyard setting or in a back-yard design to offset a landscape. Waterfalls create a relaxing environment and may be used as a focal point of an outdoor environment. Sheer-decent water features (a newer concept) offer the look and feel of a waterfall with little to no maintenance.

Pergolas and arbors have many uses in landscape design. They incorporate a vertical dimension to a flat space, create diffused visual lighting in a full sun area, and provide shade and privacy. There are many sizes and styles to choose from. At Tango, we custom build using a variety of materials to any desired specifications.

At Tango Landscapes, we only install top quality trees, shrubs and plantings from the best suppliers in the industry. We also closely plan each step of the installation process. The key factor in landscape planting is to amend the clay base that most homes in Michigan have. To do this, we introduce sand and topsoil mix closer to the soil where most trees and shrubs are grown. We custom design all of our landscaping installations to account for factors such as the water drainage, rainwater run-off, the spacing of plants, etc.

The most important part of a brick paving project is the installation - how it is done and the materials used will decide whether or not it lasts. At Tango Landscapes, we use our own specs to control the quality and ensure longevity. For example, the base material in our projects is state certified, meaning it is free of debris (such as asphalt, glass, rebar, dirt, etc.) which can cause settlement over time. Our stone is angler cut to lock together and compact properly, forcing the air cavities out of the base.
