I entered professional lawn and landscape maintenance by way of a family run business that provided both mowing and maintenance services to residential and business property owners. After a short time, I decided to relocate my family back to Ohio and took a position with a young and emerging company called TurfGard. Within a year I took over Operations for the owner and the process of growing TurfGard began. It was a position I thoroughly enjoyed for 13 years. During that span, I developed an excellent working relationship with numerous product suppliers, industry insiders and the agriculture educational community (Ohio State University and Clark State University).
As if we haven't already covered enough pest issues, we can't put a bow on it without discussing insects. No matter what pest we're dealing with, it must be understood that every lawn will have insects, disease and weeds on occasion. You simply cannot control all of these problems by treating a lawn 4-5 times a year. Fortunately, you don't have to! You see, lawns will tolerate a fair amount of pest activity and live on. Insect pests can sometimes, however, require corrective treatment. In today's lawn care culture, insecticides are not always necessary.
