Shamrock has shown a high level of service, attention, and professionalism by: - Responding to my request for a quote (5 of 8 calls to to other services yielded no reply). - Visiting my yard to prepare the quote (the other services who replied did not) - Providing a quote which included observations and analysis of our lawn, such as grass varieties, weed types, insect problems. - Recommending needed services and not recommending ones not required (it was too late for a pre-emergent crabgrass, and insect control was not needed as no problems were observed) - Having a staffed office or an answering service to take my messages when I had questions and wanted to confirm proceeding with the service. My calls were returned within one or two days. - Sending a friendly "lawn care guy" to do the work who let us know what he was doing and went about it quickly. - Blowing off pellet fertilizer from the sidewalk and driveway where it had spread beyond the lawn. - Leaving a description of the work completed in the front door, with short-term recommendations about cutting, watering, or pets. - Having a secure, easy-to-use web site which allows on-line payment. They offer a discount for pre-payment of the full season.

OK. This is second season using Shamrock, and lawn looks much better since start of using their services. Have had two instances with applications missing some areas of the lawn. They have been responsive, professional and reliable.

They come whenever it needs it. During the growing season at least once a week. In the summer when it's dry they check in once a week but it doesn't always need that. Charges depend on the service. The cleanup is very nice. They blow everything off the driveway so there is no grass on the road or driveway. It just looks like the lawn has been freshly mowed. When they put fertilizer down they put signs also.

First early lawn application applied. We were given a heads up call, so that we could make sure our fearful dog was indoors during the application process.

We use a company called Shamrock Lawn Maintenance. We've been using them for years. Shamrock brought out another group, you know, they're not local, we're very happy with them. They are in the Pittsburgh area. They were here probably a month ago. They come like 4 or 5 times a year. They've kept our lawn looking very nice for years.

What's new?

Sometimes fertilizer and weed control are not solely the answer to your turf problems. Soil conditions dictate how well your lawn will react to treatments. An annual aeration aids your soil so it can adequately take in water and nutrients.

Dollar spot is a common fungal disease most active in the summer. Blighted patches are roughly the size of a half dollar, hence its name. Adequate nitrogen applications aid in its control. A damp cob-web like substance called mycelium can often be observed on infected areas in early morning when dew is still present.

With the snowy winter we've had in our region, some lawns will develop snow mold that is sometimes noticeable in the springtime when your turf stand comes back to life. Snow mold typically presents itself in pink or gray patches. The picture below is an extreme case. Most outbreaks are isolated and non-threatening to your lawn.

Red thread is a common fungal infection most active in the spring and early summer. It often resolves on its own as air temperatures rise. Adequate nitrogen applications help to slow down red thread prevalence. Fungicides are usually unnecessary for this particular disease.

Yellow nutsedge is a weed that can overwhelm a turf-stand during the heat of the summer. It thrives in overly damp soil conditions and poor mowing practices. As there are no pre-emergents currently available for this plant, it is important to practice the correct cultural controls to slow down its.
