Lafayette Tree & Landscape is an award-winning company, privately owned and operated by Thomas Raeth. We have consistently earned a reputation for excellence in state and regional competitions sponsored by the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA), the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show as well as other organizations. What is most important to me, though, is that each and every one of our clients receives a unique creation which suits their individual needs and holds up well over time.

We approach pest and disease treatment programs with integrated pest management techniques, resorting to more aggressive approaches only when absolutely necessary. An effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

Garden construction begins with functional elements such as proper grading, irrigation, drainage, and erosion control systems. Next, with the development of patios, decks, fences, pools, fountains or retaining walls, the garden starts to take shape. The magic continues with artistic selection of plant material and the final showcasing of your garden is achieved through subtle placement of lighting and sound systems, giving your garden a natural "wow" factor. From concept to creation, we work closely with each of our clients to develop a customized plan that maximizes the use of your outdoor space.

Garden Design's own booth (at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show) proved that you can make a spa (Sundance Spas) fit seamlessly into a garden - the right surrounding decking makes the difference. Among other highlights: the compact Kalamazoo grill, like a piece of sculpture; the elegant overhead and stone walls from Eldorado, and the funky circular pattern of pavestones from Oldcastle/Belgard. Kudos to designer Michele Swanson and builder Thomas Raeth. Working with EBMUD to develop a fair policy for water rationing, Thomas Raeth informs the group that he has been advising clients for years to install water-efficient irrigation systems.

Thomas's hardscape paver driveway, pool decks, and flagstone entry way are excellent. The design elements are simple and effective and the unseen aspects of the landscaping such as drainage and irrigation are superior quality that I can count on functioning properly. After having a horrible experience adding on to our house, we were gun shy to have another contractor on our property. Thomas and all the staff at Lafayette Tree & Landscape not only did a fabulous job but they restored our faith! There was one issue with a subcontractor and when I brought it to Lafayette Tree and Landscape's attention, within 5 minutes all of the subcontractor's employees were looking at the problem and began to fix the problem.

Trees enhance gardens dramatically, adding character and charm. Light filtering through the branches, creating shade, providing privacy and a noise buffer are benefits that trees provide. Losing a tree can dramatically affect the ambiance of your garden, decrease property value, and increase energy costs. Wisdom dictates an investment in their continued health. With the expert services of our certified arborist and pesticide controller, clients can proactively take steps to protect their trees from pests, disease and premature loss.
