Smooth Move People, now Portland's most reliable and affordable moving company, all started with one guy on a strawberry farm. His name is Greg. I started off as a musician, playing about six nights a week in bars and clubs all around the West Coast. I loved the music, but I was over the late hours. And the smoky bars. I'd decided to move to my sister's strawberry farm in Sandy, OR. I didn't have much to my name, I was still pretty young, but I did have a truck (it was the one the band used to move our equipment).

People think by doing long distance moves themselves that they're saving a bunch of money. For one, they don't account for gas, rental rates and possible labor costs. Smooth Move People has been in the moving business for three decades. In that time, we've met people who chose not to hire long distance moves because they think they'll save money by doing it all themselves. Well, we're here to tell ya: That's not always the case. Additionally, we own all of our equipment, so our overhead is much lower than other companies.
