We can examine your lawn free of charge and recommend the correct procedure to cure any lawn problem. We not only treat with chemicals but do mechanical aerating if necessary. Deep root feeding for trees and shrubs is also part of our service. Our program is based on prevention. For example, our early spring treatment contains a pre-emergent weed control to prevent spurge, crabgrass and foxtail weeds. Our early spring deep root feeding for your trees and shrubs includes a systematic insect control to keep bugs off your ornamentals all season long.

Tho only time I recommend power raking is to over-seed an existing lawn that is doing poorly from disease or poor cultural practices. Mow the lawn as short as possible, 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch at the most. Then seed with a disease resistant cultivar containing at least 33 % perennial rye grass. Adding peat moss increases germination. Add a light balanced fertilizer such as Bolster Granular 4-4-4 plus 3 Fe Fine grade. Water once or twice daily until seed emerges and then continue to cut back to every

I’ve had numerous questions about power raking and aerating. Power raking is not recommended since it does more damage to the lawn than good. Lower the mower down to about 1 1/2 inches and mow off the older brown grass. This works great to get rid of dead grass. Then raise mower back up a notch at a time as the weather warms back up(2 1/2 to 3 inches). I do recommend aerating which opens up the soil and lets in more oxygen to the root zone which encourages deeper healthier roots and a thicker

For older lawns desimated by the record heat this summer I recommend over seeding the lawn with newer and disease resistant grass seed that has at least 30% Rye grass. For best results, mow areas to be seeded very short (less that 1 inch long) and then seed over those areas and rake lightly in. When done, cover with peat moss and fertilize for even better results. Must keep seeded areas moist by watering at least once or twice daily depending on temperatures.

Melting out is a fungus disease and is a common problem this time of year due to insufficient watering practices.
