Associated Fire Protection eliminates the need to contact multiple service companies by offering total fire protection. We design, install and inspect all types of fire protection systems. From the engineering or design phase, to the actual installation or the ongoing inspection and testing and repairs, AFP has the in-house expertise to handle any aspect of the life cycle of a fire protection or security project. Associated Fire Protection was founded in 1947 upon the belief that the latest in fire protection technology must be combined with the highest level of service in order to provide value to our customers.
Associated Fire Protection was started by John Straten in 1947. Mr. Straten immigrated to the United States from Germany in the 1920s. In 1941, he was employed by the Walter Kidde Company as a sales engineer. He was given the opportunity to become an independent distributor of Kidde products in 1947 and was assigned Passaic and Bergen Counties in New Jersey as his sales territories. After Mr. Straten's death in 1969, his son Roland took over operation of the company in 1971. Under Roland's leadership, the company continued to grow, adding numerous customers, employees and expanding the company's fleet of service vehicles.
