Originally opened as a successful feed and seed store in 1946, the NEW Brooks & Collier has absorbed the best of the past 71 years in business, to bring you a home and garden shopping experience that will keep you coming back for all your indoor and outdoor living needs! Greg's dad Billy, transformed the original store into an outdoor nursery and gardening store in the 1970s. His mother Doris opened the second store in the 1980s on South Parkway. This store introduced casual furniture to Brooks & Collier's quality merchandise.
We often hire gardening and home decor professionals, and sometimes seasonal help. Brooks & Collier is currentlylooking to hire 1-2 warehouse/delivery people. Responsibilities include maintaining the warehouse, assembling furniture, delivering furniture, and varies odd jobs around the warehouse. Position requires the ability to lift heavy furniture.
Billy and Doris Brooks retired and sold the South Parkway store and in 1993, Kim and Greg bought the older location, which had moved to 813 Meridian Street. The store was barely a shadow of the store it is today. They expanded the nursery and completely renovated the building, enlarging it to provide a huge showroom. During this time, Brooks & Collier began importing furniture from manufacturers all around the world. Then, in 2005, Brooks & Collier leased the store to Summer Classics, when Summer Classics, one of Brooks & Collier's current furniture distributors, were expanding their company stores throughout the southeast.
