Endometriosis is a puzzling disease that affects our hormones, our immune system (the system that fights germs and cancer), and the digestive tract (the system involved in the breakdown and absorption of our food). The name comes from the word "endometrium" which is the tissue that lines the inside of the uterus. Each month, or cycle, this tissue builds up and sheds, causing the normal bleeding experienced during the period. With endometriosis, tissue like this is found outside of the uterus in other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, intestines, bladder, and other places.

Awareness can help someone else know how and why the pain is different than just a cramp or a pain. Donate for education and awareness and one day a cure.

Thank you so much for my endo ribbons and educational material! I will share at endo March here in Atlanta

I wish I would have found this site earlier. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 1989. My OBGYN said on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, I was a 5. It has been a roller coaster ride with various treatments and problems as I age - surgery, Lupron shots, Fibroids, surgery again, specialist after specialist. Being an "invisible illness" to your loved ones made it hard for them to understand the moments pain, horrendous swelling and discomfort I would go through on a monthly bases. Hoping to touch base with others with this condition who are beginning to move into menopause or who have gone through it. Hoping there is a light at the end of tunnel.
