We ensure that every inch of product meets and exceeds the highest standards of performance, quality and durability. With over 50 years of experience and millions and millions of square feet of synthetic turf in use worldwide, AstroTurf products bring more technological expertise and real world know-how to the game than any other brand. Today, AstroTurf products benefit from proprietary innovations in system design, manufacturing, and installation that are outpacing industry trends. Guided by the philosophy of More Fiber, Less Fill, AstroTurf is producing superior products that perform more like natural grass, and bringing new advances to market faster than the competition.

The roar of the crowd. The crack of the bat. The blood, sweat, and tears shed. The countless hours of practice. The thousands of tackles, ground balls, passes, and patterns run that enable the win. AstroTurf labors to make all of these experiences a reality. Our focus on player safety, product durability, and game day performance have gotten us this far. But we never rest. AstroTurf was invented in 1964 and is now part of the SportGroup, arguably the largest sports surfacing company in the world.

Heard Smith has led the AstroTurf team since 2010. Serving as Chief Operating Officer, Heard is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and general management of the company. Under Mr. Smith's leadership, AstroTurf has consistently achieved year-over-year growth, while refining the operations of one of sport's most iconic brands, AstroTurf. Prior to his role with AstroTurf, Heard led a long career in the textile industry. Heard previously served as President of the Knit Fabric and Apparel Group for the Dixie Group and as Global Group Director for Tencate's Geosynthetics and Artificial Turf sector.

Our R&D engineers rigorously vet each athletic turf system before it goes to market with player protection as priority #1. Priority #2 is doing so in a value engineered, cost-effective approach that considers player performance. For example, we always encourage clients to "add a pad". Pads deliver shock attenuation totally consistent and predictable. But to do so intelligently, our R&D engineers have collaborated with other industry suppliers to develop full SYSTEMS that take into account an understanding of all system components, how they interact with one other, and how the overall system design performs.

What's new?
