Plant Sod in the WINTER? For many plants, Winter is the best time to transplant them. In our climate, warm weather grasses often go dormant in the Winter to protect themselves.
Like everything else in life, preparation can often make the difference between failure and success. The perfect home for new grass sod will be a perfect mix of sand, clay and organic material. The grade will be away from your house, and a drainage plan, in unison with your neighbors will have been thought through and executed precisely. Also, like everything else in life, perfect usually doesn't exist. We can talk with you to help plan your preparation without breaking the bank. Often preparation is simply removing the rocks, clay clumps, other debris, and raking level.
A beautiful morning to deliver sod to the baseball field!
We are still offering Delivery Service!!
If you're project allows you to, this is a good time to sod. The grass is sleeping, needs very little water and prices are lower than they will be in the Spring. Give us a call or text! Karen is ready to help you! 225-610-4842
We get a lot of questions about laying sod in the Winter. If your project needs sod, go ahead and lay it now. Sod will go dormant in the Winter, but it will wake up with all the other grasses in the Spring.
