These pumps are designed to elevate the pool's temperature up to the ideal swimming range, between 78 - 82 degrees Fahrenheit. They work best in humid areas where the ambient temperature stays above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. But, when the ambient temperature drops below 45 - 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the heat pump automatically shuts off and prevents the damage that cold air might cause.
