The Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority shall be the best, most efficiently run sewerage authority, in full compliance with all regulations, in the State of New Jersey. The Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority (RVSA) is an autonomous agency that owns and operates a trunk sewer system and a wastewater treatment facility in Rahway, New Jersey. The RVSA currently serves more than 250,000 residents and 3,500 industrial and commercial customers in 14 communities in central New Jersey. Our treatment plant offers a limited number of tours each month to show the general public how the water they use is cleaned and safely returned to the environment.
The Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority (RVSA) is comprised of a trunk sewer collection system and a wastewater treatment facility servicing more than 250,000 residents and 3,500 industrial and commercial customers in Central New Jersey. The RVSA was organized in 1928 as the "Rahway Valley Joint Meeting." The municipalities of Springfield, Kenilworth, Roselle Park, Cranford, Westfield, Garwood, Clark, Rahway, and Woodbridge joined together to create a treatment plant and a trunk sewer system that would collect and treat wastewater.
Wastewater treatment facilities provide essential services to the communities they serve by treating polluted water and returning clean, safe water to the environment. The Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority (RVSA) was formed in 1951 to treat wastewater from municipalities in Central New Jersey. These municipalities currently include: Member Municipalities of Clark, Cranford, Garwood, Kenilworth, Mountainside, Rahway, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Westfield, and Woodbridge and User Municipalities of Winfield Park, portions of Fanwood and Linden.
