The Manhattan Land Trust is a nonprofit organization that embraces a family of 14 gardens established by gardeners to support and sustain community gardening throughout Manhattan. Our collective mission is to preserve, improve, and promote community managed open spaces for the benefit of all. Urban land trusts protect rare and precious open space in America's cities-forever. UGC's Bronx and Manhattan Land Trusts maintain community-owned green spaces in neighborhoods where there are few city parks or other open land.
Urban community gardens need strong leaders and grassroots support. We mobilize neighborhoods and help gardeners build leadership skills so that they can effectively manage their gardens and shape the future of their communities. To ensure the future of our community gardens in Manhattan and the Bronx, we need your support! If you are interested in gardening with us, please call 212-244-2288.
