We believe building performance impacts human performance and that the future of construction is sustainable, resilient and high-performing buildings. This belief drives us to explore new technologies and methods that support the visions of our clients and positively impact the communities in which we live, work and play. That means finding ways to build smarter and cleaner and encouraging the use of healthy materials and efficient systems - so through our work today we see tomorrow transformed.
In 1927, Stanley forms Pepper Construction Company and begins building small garages for families to house their new automobiles. His motto: "Do quality work and always pay cash." In a momentous break during the Depression, Stanley lands a job managing Marshall Field's move into the new Merchandise Mart on the banks of the Chicago River. They remain a client for 75 years until they are purchased by Macy's, and the relationship continues today. In 1937, Pepper begins building homes for developer A.T. McIntosh.
At Pepper, we create leaders at every level and generate momentum in every market we serve. We do that by rewarding new thinking and respecting the long-standing values that have made our company unique for generations. As chairman and chief executive officer of The Pepper Companies, Stan is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overall resource management. Stan began working at the company in the field at the age of 15, and quickly rose through the ranks while working in many areas across the organization such as carpentry, marketing and project management along the way.
