Concrete paving or asphalt paving? Which is better? Which is most cost-effective? These are very common questions that most of our clients often struggle with when deciding what type of material to work with on their project. Although there really is not a clear-cut answer as to which material is better than the other, it all really depends on the project itself. Asphalt is a very universal material that can be used to pave roads and highways, for playgrounds and running tracks, paving barn and greenhouse floors, even paving ports, landfill caps and work sites.

Foremost Paving is responsible for installing a large number of different types of underground utility lines. However, one of the most common types utility line installation projects we do in South Texas are water lines and water mains. With the huge population growth that McAllen, Brownsville, Weslaco and other communities in the Rio Grande Valley are experiencing, it is critical to add new water lines and new water mains, and expand what is already in place. When you see crews working underground adding pipeline, there is a good chance that they are Foremost Paving crew installing distribution or transmission water lines.
Pile driving is an important way of providing support for bridges, buildings and other types of construction. Pile driving is critical for any construction project where sturdy construction or unstable ground is an important factor. Put simply, pile driving involves "driving" piles, or supports into the ground. There are different types of "pile" available. Different materials work better for different projects. Over the years, Foremost Paving has driven concrete piling for bridge foundations, steel sheet piling for bulkhead projects at multiple ports throughout South Texas, and vinyl sheet piling to support drainage ditch banks and small bulkhead projects.
Living in the Rio Grande Valley, they are often quite common on our daily commute, and that isn't a coincidence. Geographically, South Texas is, on average, closer to sea level than most parts of the United States. Couple that with living next to the Gulf of Mexico, and you have the potential for some heavy rainfall all over the Rio Grande Valley. Unfortunately, excess rainfall can often cause pavement to crack and deteriorate the foundation under the pavement, causing potholes to develop. Regular crack and joint sealing can save you time and money before your pavement may need major reconstructive maintenance.
When it rains in the Rio Grande Valley, it can cause a big mess. The water starts to rise and needs somewhere to go or you have a flooding problem. One of the best ways to deal with the runoff from a large rainstorm is with drainage ditches, and Foremost Paving has built miles and miles of drainage ditches across South Texas. The stormwater has to have a way to get to the drainage ditches and this where storm drainage lines come into play. Storm drainage lines and drain pipes connect storm drain inlets found alongside roadways and directs the runoff water into nearby drainage ditches, arroyos, creeks, lakes or other stormwater retention / detention structures.
Concrete is a very important part of many construction and maintenance jobs. Unless an organization has their own equipment, an outside firm must be hired to produce and deliver the ready mix concrete. Foremost Paving has concrete production facilities and the mixer trucks required to deliver the ready mix concrete. At Foremost Paving, having the ability to produce our own concrete gives us flexibility and speeds up the process for many of the project we complete. Working with concrete is tricky and requires the upmost in care-especially in the unpredictable climate in the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.
Underground utility installation includes projects such as installing sewer or water lines. As more and more residential areas are being built in South Texas, this will continue to be a very important task. In the past, Foremost Paving has taken on underground utility construction projects in all parts of the Rio Grande Valley, including sanitary sewer lines and a new sewage pump station for the city of McAllen where some sections of pipe were buried up to 30 feet deep. While not every underground utility installation project will be this large or complex, the team of experts at Foremost Paving will give your job the same level of care and attention to detail, assuring you excellent results.
Concrete structures can refer to any number of things-bridges, tower foundations, concrete weirs or a pump structure. When you start a project, particularly one that involves building a concrete structure, there is a need for great care and precision. That is why working with Foremost Paving is an excellent choice. The team of concrete experts at Foremost Paving have decades of experience in planning and building concrete structures of all shapes and sizes-unlike a simple concrete company, the team at Foremost Paving can handle the project from start to finish.
In the past, much of the water from irrigation districts in South Texas has been moved around using open canals. However, there are some drawbacks to this. First, in the hot Texas sun, there is a lot of evaporation. Add the evaporated water to the water lost to seepage, and there is a lot of water that goes to waste. One solution Foremost Paving provides is to change existing canals to large diameter pipe irrigation lines. This involves creating large pipelines underground. Irrigation districts have found that the investment in these pipelines can be justified from the savings found in the reduction of water loss.
There are many little details that go into getting water and waste water from one location to another. Have you ever considered how the water that goes down the drain in your home finds its way to the wastewater treatment plant? In ideal situations, the water goes down the pipe and would run downhill to the wastewater treatment plant. However, there is not always enough differentiation in elevation between your home and the treatment plant to make this work. This is why sanitary sewer lift stations exist.
