We are a Skagit and Whatcom hardwood flooring company that provides full professional service for your hardwood flooring needs. Robinson Hardwood & Homes was founded by Neal & Kitty Robinson in 1993 with a commitment to building a team of flooring craftsmen who have a strong knowledge of hardwood flooring tools, wood floor techniques, and hardwood floor products to repair, restore and install the most amazing hardwood floors possible. Our core value, as a hardwood flooring company, is to build and maintain a strong reputation of personable service and expert knowledge in caring for the hardwood flooring needs of our clients.

Not so long ago, it was common for fumes to drive people from their homes during repainting and refinishing hardwood flooring. Most conventional paints and flooring finishes contained high levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that produced a breathable gas when applied. The VOCs diminish air quality, and may be detrimental to your health. Today, alternative manufacturing techniques have allowed the development of low- and no-VOC paints and finishes that release minimal or no VOC pollutants.

Hardwood floors can transform the look of a room to sheer elegance, with an open, clean and spacious feel. And if properly cared for, they last for decades. However, over the course of years due to the dirt, sand particles and debris that are brought into the home, you begin to notice your hardwood floors look dull and worn. One way to bring wood floors back to their original beauty and luster is by refinishing the hardwood, which is a fairly simple process when you understand how it works. Also, there may be some typical wear and tear of hardwood flooring that needs to be repaired.

Sweeping regularly keeps grit off of the surface of your hardwood floors. Wiping down wood floors with a damp cloth is one of the simplest ways to regularly maintain your floors. Surface finishes like polyurethane require only simple care of dusting, mopping, sweeping, or vacuuming on a regular basis. There are several cleaners and home-based solutions to use for hardwood floors. However, if the substances are not combined in the correct proportions, it is possible to end up doing more damage than good.

There are many benefits to refinishing your wooden floors. Refinishing is easier to do than replacing the flooring, requires less time and is less expensive. Not only will it increase the value of your home, but if you plan to sell it at some point, beautiful refinished flooring is attractive to potential buyers and will allow you to establish a higher price for your home. Also, the cost of refinishing hardwood can be done for far less than the cost of replacing wood floors. Consider recoating the finish of hardwood flooring if the finish is not entirely worn through and it has a dulled surface with only minor scratches or imperfections and no stains.

The team members at Robinson Hardwood work with the best possible tools and equipment, supplied by us. This allows our team to provide the best quality floor with a dust free sanding solution to keep your home or office clean and healthy. Since, 1993 we have built a strong reputation among the contractors, builders, interior designers and flooring companies in both Whatcom & Skagit Counties. We service both residential homes and commercial business. Not sure what you need or how much it will cost?

When putting in new wood flooring it is important to consider the following variables since all of these will help you determine which flooring is best for your home or office. For high traffic areas you will want to look at a medium grade wood or higher to stand up to the wear and tear through the years. A natural maple wood or other medium grade woods are often used for gym floors or bowling alleys. Medium hard woods are a good place to start when looking for flooring that stands up to high traffic areas of your home.
