Our process begins with the client consultation. The purpose of the initial meeting is to help discover your wants, needs and desires for your new custom home. Every homesite is unique and knowing the characteristics of the land will help us design your dream home. We will meet you on your property to evaluate topography, orientation, views and tree coverage to determine optimal home placement and design. If you do not already have property, then we will help you find the ideal lot to build your custom home.
My wife and I bought a house built in 1970 (4bd, 2.5ba, 2800sqft) without a garage and did a complete remodel/gut of the home to include tearing down walls, new kitchen, new LVP flooring over existing tile, all new windows, as well as a new addition consisting of new bedroom/guest suite, new full bath, large mudroom, and a 2.5 car garage. We had multiple contractors come out, one never called back, a few others were great but was had a small overworked crews, and Jeff Sandera was the last. Jeff was personable, easy-going, knowledgeable, and professional. His bid was a little bit higher than the rest but we had a feeling it was a "get what you pay for" investment, and we were right. Sandera Custom Homes is a family-owned but still sizeable custom home building company that also does renovation projects on the side. Throughout the project, we had full access to the benefits of a larger custom home building company (multiple electrical/ plumbing/etc teams, faster turn-around time than small time GCs) but with the communication and feel of a smaller outfit via Jeff. Due to the size of the project, we used their in-house plan designer (Stuart) during the planning stage, a much more economical choice than hiring an architect, and he was great to work with as well and added some excellent tweaks/ ideas to our initial vision (and of course turned it all into real, printable construction plans). Every renovation project has its bumps, hurdles, and possible roadblocks, but Jeff was great throughout the whole process and even absorbed the cost of some issues that arose to keep us on budget (a testament of his character and professionalism). We could not be more pleased with the results and happily recommend him and Sandera Custom Homes to everyone.
