Chatham Moving & Storage's roots evolved out of World War I. Our founder, Eugene (EP) P. Sacco Sr., after serving in the quartermaster corps, realized that the gas engine and trucks would launch the freight industry. At the time, horse and wagon did most of the transport. EP started by hauling limestone block into New York City for construction of the buildings in lower Manhattan. Soon after, he purchased a Packard with a 15 foot body. In 1924, he hired his first employee and concentrated on making household and industrial moving his business.
The AMSA is a non-profit trade association established in 1936. Based in the Washington, D.C., area, AMSA's mission is to represent the interest of the domestic and international moving and storage industry and to help the customers it serves. As a member, we uphold their Code of Ethics and belief in providing honest, ethical, efficient and quality services. A certification earned through the AMSA, the ProMover program takes the worry and the hassle out of moving by helping consumers identify quality professional movers who have passed background checks and subscribe to the goals, standards and Code of Ethics set by the AMSA.
