We are owned and operated locally, serving Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. We are committed to meeting our customers' expectations with honest, professional and prompt service. Your fireplace, chimney, and clothes dryer are among the most-overlooked causes of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning in your home. We are dedicated to making your home as safe as possible by eliminating these serious issues. While we understand that not all fires are preventable, we also know from experience that being diligent and doing the things that can help prevent a fire in your home will bring you peace of mind.
There are three basic types of chimney appliances in Louisiana; masonry fireplaces, prefabricated fireplaces and wood stoves. Maintenance is recommended for all of these types of appliances, some on an annual basis. Remember The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and the National Fire Protection Association recommends that fireplaces & chimneys be inspected/cleaned annually. You may think this is excessive, however, once you note the safety considerations below we believe you will understand why this is so important to the health of your family.
The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) recommends that Dryer Exhausts be Inspected & Cleaned Annually. We hold the Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician #275. Please take a few minute to read the safety considerations when deciding if you should be getting this service completed annually. Lint and additional debris from animals and birds can build up in your clothes dryer vent and may cause your dryer to exhaust at less than optimum efficiency. This creates potentially hazardous conditions including the possibility of exhaust fires.
Dryer vent cleaning and inspections in Baton Rouge can increase the efficiency of your clothes dryer and decrease the wear on your dryer. A clean exhaust duct prevents heat, moisture and, in the case of gas dryers, carbon monoxide from being trapped in your home. When this type of spillage occurs, energy, natural resources and time are all wasted because your dryer is working too hard and runs longer than necessary. If your dryer takes twice as long to dry clothes, the number of loads that it will dry in its lifetime is cut in half.
Once you have your dryer vent cleaned and inspected the technician may recommend that you have the dryer vent rerouted for safety reasons. What is happening in the construction industry are more and more complex building and complexes that are requiring longer dryer vent runs; some with multiple turns. The technician will also verify that the correct type of duct is in use. For example, plastic transition ducts (joining the dryer to the wall) should be replaced with a metal duct, because it is non-flammable, unlike plastic.
Why should you bother having your chimney inspected? The following statistics from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for 2010 is a good place to start. U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated 1,331,500 fires. There was a civilian fire death every 169 minutes and a civilian fire injury every 30 minutes in 2010. Fires accounted for five percent of the 28,205,000 total calls. We have included a very informative video from the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) that will walk you through the process of chimney inspections as there are 3 levels of inspections depending on the condition of the chimney and fireplace as determined by a certified technician.
