We originally designed this door for Norwegian builders whose demands were to maximize viewing area while offering the highest quality fireplace door possible.

Founded in 1942 in Akron, Ohio, Thermo-RiteManufacturing originated the tempered glass fireplace enclosure. In fact, Thermo-Rite was awarded the first United States Patentfor tempered glass fireplace enclosures. We began as a custom masonry door maker. Through continuous innovation, we were soon leading the industry in the production and popularization of high quality stock fireplace doors. Over the years, Thermo-Rite evolved with a wide and varied offering of models, styles and sizes to satisfy your customers' needs for glass doors on custom masonry fireplaces, stock masonry fireplaces and many zero-clearance fireplaces.

Standard:Standard Doors tend to have wider frames that allow one size to fit a variety of opening dimensions. Custom:Custom Doors require full measurements be taken of the fireplace and each door is uniquely made to fit that specific opening. Thermo-Rite has a wide variety of finishes and color combinations to help you find exactly what you need. In the case with two colors the first color represents the frame, while the second color is the channels. Heritage Textured Colors:The Thermo-Rite powder coat palette has 15 durable color options.

Fireplaces, while first impressions lead people to think of warm and cozy thoughts, are in reality one of the least heat efficient items in a home. These are infrared pictures of a fireplace opening with and without a door installed. As you can see the temperature readout on the fireplaces with doors can be double that of those without. It is also helpful to note that fireplace doors are not intended to be closed during the fireplace operation. The main purpose behind doors is for heat efficiency while the fireplace is not in operation.
