Macon Electric Cooperative is one of 41 rural electric distribution cooperatives in Missouri. An electric cooperative is an organization formed to provide electric service in an area where a private utility is not available. While I love the co-op membership benefits, my favorite part of being a member is the way they treat their customers! I can call with a question or problem and get a real person on the phone that actually wants to help me! I love how fast they take care of things for me. The reliability, communication and friendliness of the staff is what I enjoy most about being a member.
The extreme cold in February caused heating systems to work harder and run longer than normal. Whether you use central heating, strip heat or space heaters, longer run time means they likely used more electricity.
