At this time there has been no recall issued for these products and Summit Electric has not been informed of any fires resulting from the use or installation of the Sycom Model SYC120/240-T2. We reached out to our vendors and to the product manufacturer to learn more about this matter and will update our customers as we learn more. Summit Electric will still offer our customers the option to protect their home's electrical system with a Whole Home Surge Protection Device. We have found another product from a different manufacturer that does currently have a valid UL Mark, excellent specs, and outstanding reviews and endorsements.

The circuit breaker panel, also known as a load center or panelboard, is a very important part of the electrical system in your home. This enclosure is where the power supplied by the utility is distributed to the various circuits that supply the appliances, lights, and outlets in your home. The load center not only distributes the power to the electrical system, but it also contains some very important safety devices: the circuit breakers. The circuit breakers provide protection for your home and your family by helping to keep the electrical system free of dangerous conditions like overloads and faults.

Electrical Repairs are part of owning a home. Sometimes there are minor problems like a faulty switch or an outlet that doesn't work. Often these issues that seem like minor problems may be a symptom of something more serious. At Summit Electric LLC we always recommend hiring a Licensed Electrical Contractor to correctly diagnose and safely repair Electrical Problems. Only a Licensed Electrician will have the necessary training, tools, knowledge, and experience needed to correctly identify the cause of the problem in your home's electrical system.

What is a power surge? Basically, a power surge is brief spike or wave in the voltage of an electrical circuit. This is often also referred to as a transient. Typically these surges last only a fraction of a second, but the damage that they can cause to your sensitive electronics and appliances is permanent. Whole Home Surge Protection can help protect the electronics and appliances in your home. How do surges happen? There are a number of sources from which surges can originate. Many people are under the common misconception that all power surges come from outside the home's electrical system from sources like the power company grid or a nearby lightning strike.
