We will close the coal-fueled Winyah Generating Station by 2027 and replace that power with 1,000 MW of solar, 200 MW of battery storage, and additional natural gas as needed for reliability. Our cleaner, greener generating mix will be cheaper too, saving $90 million a year initially and $170 million a year after 2027. We will use $925 million in cash and other internal funds over the next two years to pay down debt, including $350 million in 2019 and $575 million in 2020 and 2021.

Both water systems have been honored with the "Best Tasting Water" award from the South Carolina Rural Water Association. The system uses a conventional treatment process and has the capacity to treat and sell 40 million gallons of water per day (mgd) from Lake Moultrie. The Santee Cooper Regional Water System utilizes 20 miles of transmission pipeline to deliver drinking water to the Lake Moultrie Water Agency, which is comprised of the Berkeley County, the City of Goose Creek, the Moncks Corner Public Works Commission and the Summerville Commissioners of Public Works.
In December, Santee Cooper participated in a virtual dedication ceremony for the Lake Marion Regional Water System's Dorchester Reach, which is much more than a 10.7-mile water line.
Santee Cooper helped renest a great horned owlet on the grounds of the Wampee Conference Center in Pinopolis. The owlet had fallen from its nest and the Avian Conservation Center was contacted. They examined, fed and monitored the condition of the owlet before bringing him back to be renested.
