Solid Waste Disposal
Our landfill accepts municipal solid waste through environmentally engineered disposal cells that comply with EPA Subtitle D regulations. Recycling Programs
We offer free residential recycling for metals, plastics, cardboard, and electronics when properly sorted. Commercial recyclable loads incur a $50 fee. Our facility maintains separate processing areas for different material types including a dedicated e-waste recycling center for computers, monitors, and household electronics.
Household Hazardous Waste
Residents can dispose of hazardous materials like paints, fuels, and pesticides free of charge. Our facility includes a reuse shed for usable chemicals and specialized processing for mercury-containing devices and rechargeable batteries. Business customers must contact Salt Lake County Health Department for hazardous waste disposal options.
Landfill Gas to Energy
Decomposing organic materials generate landfill gas that we capture through extraction wells. This gas fuels three 2200 horsepower generator sets that produce 4.8 megawatts of electricity 24/7. The renewable energy generated powers over 4,000 local homes through our partnership with Murray City and energy provider EDL.
Commercial Waste Management
We provide specialized waste solutions for commercial vehicles with GVWR over 14,001 lbs. Services include roll-off container processing, pre-paid account management, and RFID lane access. Commercial customers receive detailed account statements and must maintain minimum $1,000 account balances for uninterrupted service.
