Snohomish County Public Utility District No. 1, or the "PUD, " was created on November 3, 1936, by a majority vote of the people, for the purpose of providing publicly owned electric and water utility service to the people of Snohomish County and Camano Island. The vote to create the PUD was part of the public power movement in the Pacific Northwest. In the early years, the PUD was primarily in the water distribution business, beginning operations on January 17, 1946. The Lake Stevens Water System was the first project to be organized and built.

If power is out in your home, but your neighbors have power, call the PUD at 425-783-1001 to report the outage. The PUD will never call to ask for credit card information. We will not ask customers to buy a credit/debit card for payment, including Green Dot Money Packs or Western Union. If you are unsure if it's the PUD calling you, ask for the caller's name and call us back at 425-783-1000. State law advises your water heater should be set no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature reduces the risk of accidental scalding, especially to children and the elderly.
