E Cube, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Dr. Jack Wolpert under the name of Nederland Refrigeration. The firm originally provided HVAC construction and service contracting to Colorado's front-range. In 1985, Dr. Wolpert received one of the first commissioning certifications from the University of Wisconsin, and shifted the firm's focus to specialize in energy efficiency and operational reliability. Along with this change in focus, the firm's work began to shift from contracting to technical consulting with an emphasis on retro-commissioning and facility optimization.
E Cube, Inc. has a national reputation as "experts in facility optimization." This comes with over 800 projects completed over the last 40+ years. Our recurring clients are the most reputable in their industries including Hospitals, Data Centers, Universities, Laboratories, Distribution Centers, Office, Multi-Family Residential, and Developers. Our core business is New Building Commissioning. We also specialize in RetroCommissioning and optimization of existing buildings. We have a long history of providing other specialized consulting services including Energy Analysis, Energy Modeling, Measurement & Verification, Building Envelope Commissioning, Troubleshooting, Training, and Utility Company Energy Programs.

We also provide M&V services for clients seeking to achieve the LEED M&V credit EaC5. Typical services include development of an M&V plan, BAS design assistance for data acquisition and collection of baseline energy consumption data, set-up of trend logs, and analysis of energy consumption data. E Cube was an ASHRAE Guideline 14 committee member and chair of the building energy modeling sub-committee.
Commissioning of new buildings is our primary focus and is more than 90% of our business. We are the experts in the commissioning industry. The major benefit to building owners is a project completed in a cost-effective manner, and a building that works as originally intended for their occupants and operators. E Cube uses a structured, yet flexible, commissioning process based on ASHRAE Guidelines and other industry standards. Our process has been refined through decades of experience. This process is scalable over a wide range of building types, complexity, and sizes, and has been used on projects ranging from 2,000 S.F. to over 2,000,000 S.F.
Tenant Improvement (TI) refers to thealterationsa property owner makes to the interior of an industrial or commercial building to accommodate the needs of a tenant, such as adding or altering floors, walls, ceilings, air conditioning, fire protection, and security. All TIs must meet the minimum requirements of the currently adopted International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with local amendments. Clients seek commissioning services to ensure the needs of the project are met including code compliance and the systems are performing at peak efficiency.
Ecube offers specialty trouble-shooting and problem solving expertise. Our staff has diverse skill-sets including Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, TAB experts, controls experts, mechanical contractors, facility operators, etc. that help facilitate diagnosis and resolution of complex problems. We use our long established commissioning process to bring teams together to troubleshoot issues and eliminate finger pointing.
Retro-commissioning is a systematic process for identifying and implementing operational and maintenance improvements in existing buildings. The purpose is to optimize the function of building subsystems to enhance overall building performance. Our retro-commissioning process has ongoing benefits for everyone from building owners to occupants. Building owners experience lower operating costs thanks to energy savings and optimal equipment performance. Building occupant's complaints are reduced after a retro-commissioning project due to improved lighting, more consistent temperature control, and improved indoor air quality.
