Plants like hemp, nettle, cactus and flax (linen) have strong and beautiful fibers, which we harvest by hand, after the growing season is completed. Every yarn is spun by hand. Every rug is knotted, trimmed, washed, and dried by hand. A master dyer and our weavers work together to create each rug. We are your partners in the creation of your custom vision. We like our light natural - we choose to dye, spin, card, weave, trim and wash your rugs during the daylight hours in Nepal as often as possible.

Our mission is to work with designers and architects with a shared vision of beauty and ethics. Our product stands alone in quality and natural elegance. All of the dyes used in ecoFiber Custom Rugs are plant-derived and gathered within the region. The production of our rugs does not rely on electricity, which reduces the carbon footprint of ecoFiber's rug production significantly. As a member of Goodweave, a percentage of proceeds from each ecoFiber Custom Rug is utilized in global initiatives to fund early childhood education, adult literacy and health programs in Nepal.

Phyllis Ripple is the founder and CEO of ecoFiber Custom Rugs, based in Boulder, Colorado. Ripple blended her passion for design and textiles, her university education in Art History, and her social and environmental concerns to create a business model at ecoFiber Custom Rugs that would accomplish three goals. The first goal was to grow a company based on simple sustainable principles. Second, Ripple put her money behind preventing the exploitation of children. Third, she fashioned a way to create useful, high-quality rugs, for discriminating clients.
