I had been looking for a company to provide my oil delivery and service for several months as I currently buy my own fuel. One Sunday, I needed a technician to come out and just restart my furnace because I ran out of oil. The technician was prompt and completed the job in less than 10 minutes upon arrival. I received the bill and I was floored. They charged me over $225 for the 10 minutes of work.
I realize it was a weekend but that equates to roughly a $1200 an hour rate. There was no disclosure on the phone that there is a flat fee or what the flat fee would be. I would have had the technician do significantly more service, if I knew that I was paying that sort of rate.
